09/11/2026
September 11, 2001 began like an ordinary Tuesday.
People went to work. Parents dropped their children off. Families said goodbye for the morning, never imagining some of those goodbyes would be their last.
Then, in a matter of hours, 2,977 lives were taken and countless others were changed forever.
But alongside the unimaginable loss, America witnessed extraordinary courage.
First responders ran toward danger while others were trying to escape. Strangers helped strangers. Men and women made sacrifices for people they had never met. Communities came together, flags filled front porches, and for a moment, the things that divided us seemed far less important than the things we shared.
Patriot Day is more than remembering where we were when we heard the news.
It is remembering the lives behind the number.
The husbands and wives.
The sons and daughters.
The mothers and fathers.
The friends and coworkers.
The firefighters, police officers, paramedics, service members, and remarkable Americans whose courage became part of our nation’s history.
Twenty-five years later, we remember them.
And perhaps especially today, when our country can feel deeply divided, it is worth remembering this:
No matter what side of the political aisle you stand on, 2,977 people from 90 nations were killed that day.
They were mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and loved ones.
Today, especially today, we honor them.
And we remember those who answered the call in the years that followed.
Thousands of men and women put on the uniform and went wherever our country asked them to go. More than 7,000 U.S. service members would lose their lives in the post-9/11 wars.
Some were already serving on September 11. Others were children or young adults who watched what happened that day and later chose to serve.
For those who never made it home, and for the families who have carried that sacrifice ever since, we remember you too.
We remember the lives lost.
We remember the heroes who answered the call.
We remember the families who carried the weight of that day long after the headlines faded.
And we remember what it looked like when Americans stood together.
May we never forget September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸
Remember the fallen. Honor the brave. Never forget.
