THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR DREAM HOME STARTS BEFORE THE CONCRETE IS POURED!
At Briar Homes, we know that building a quality custom home starts from the ground up. Two critical steps that should never be overlooked are proper soil compaction and allowing your concrete slab adequate cure time.
Proper Compaction Matters!
Before your concrete slab is poured, the home pad must be properly prepared and compacted. This creates a stable, uniform base, helps minimize the risk of uneven settling, and helps protect your home’s foundation for years to come. Cutting corners at this stage can lead to costly problems down the road!
Concrete Needs Time to Cure!
Once the slab is poured, patience is key. Concrete doesn’t reach its full strength overnight. Proper curing helps concrete develop strength and durability while reducing the risk of premature drying and cracking. Concrete is commonly evaluated against a 28-day strength target, but the appropriate timing for construction activities depends on the concrete mix, weather conditions, and project specifications.
At Briar Homes, we believe the details you don’t always see are just as important as the ones you do. From preparing the home pad to pouring the slab, every step plays an important role in building a home designed to last for generations.
