SEATTLE, Washington, USA, January 19, 2015 – Seattle Home Enhancement has been awarded “Best Of Houzz” for Customer Satisfaction by Houzz, the leading platform for home remodeling and design. The 14-year old interior design and renovations firm was chosen by the more than 25 million monthly unique users that comprise the Houzz community from among more than 500,000 active home building, remodeling and design industry professionals.

Customer Satisfaction honors are determined by a variety of factors, including the number and quality of client reviews a professional received in 2014. We finally completed our rescue renovation, and put it on the market this weekend! Huge thanks to all who responded to the opinion polls and help us choose materials. This was a personal project for us and I bow before my better half - Mike Martin, whose blood, sweat and tears made this happen. Here is a link to some of the before & after photos: http://www.seattlehomeenhancement.com/ =2&pt=1&pi=10000&s=0&p=0&a=0&at=0

We found some partitions in an old lean-to on a property we are renovating. We put some of them together, and they stand over 8' tall. Judging from the hardware used they are most likely from the 1950's. Some have people's names thumb-tacked on. Does anybody know what they could have been used for? Old ski-lodge lockers? Gym lockers?

YOU TO THE RESCUE, Accent Siding:

Cast your VOTE - We turned the garage into living space, and now we need accent siding where the garage door used to be. Do you think it should be corrugated metal ( #1) or fiber cement panel ( #2)?

YOU TO THE RESCUE, Exterior Paint:

Cast your VOTE for the house colors (body, trim, accent) - Number 1 or Number 2? Keep in mind the home has the aluminum-frame windows and brick patio.

YOU to the RESCUE, Intro

Some people rescue animals, or people. We rescued a home. Not quite as noble, but still a worthwhile endeavor. (At least we hope it will be.)
This is where we need YOUR help. The home will go on the market soon, and should be loveable to the majority. What better way to renovate a home FOR THE PEOPLE, than have decisions made BY THE PEOPLE.
Over the next few weeks, we will be sending YOU THE PEOPLE options for design or construction decisions. Please help us renovate by selecting your favorite choices, and we will make it happen!
A little bit about the home and why it needed us to rescue it:
• The home is a bona fide midcentury modern with good bones.
• The home sits on a BIG and sub-dividable lot: prime target for a builder to demo and build three new homes that all look alike. We couldn’t let that happen.
• The 1955 home was built by a Seattle icon: the late Robert L. James, creator of the Macy’s (Bon-Marche) Christmas star and Christmas window displays in downtown Seattle. He designed the home, built it with his own hands, and raised his family there.
• The home wouldn’t have passed an inspection. It needs new, um – pretty much EVERYTHING!
• In other words – this is not a “flip”. It is a labor of LOVE, which is really what a rescue is all about, right?
Stay tuned for the decision making to BEGIN!
