Project just completed: cellar doors addition to 100+ year old beach house. Required overpouring concrete on the original stairway to raise it above King Tide level. Doors had to be custom built as we could not find pre-built doors that would fit. As usual, I did all the planning, design work, estimating and construction. Also had to re-route the pathway that ran in front to accommodate the added step.

One of my more unique jobs completed today, developing a spring water source. The client’s water source is a natural spring flowing from the bottom of a very steep hillside. Originally it was simply a pipe stuck into the spring with some sort of metallic material over the end to keep dirt out. The metallic material had deteriorated badly so something needed to be done. This one took me a while to come up with a solution. I eventually settled on cutting up a plastic water collection barrel and fitting an intake pipe assembly I made into the dam section and using another section as a cover. I dug out the spring and lined the bottom with heavy plastic, placed the dam and filled it with 3-5 inch rocks. I covered that with more plastic and rocks then placed the lid. Spring is protected and water flow is good.

A paving stone walkway just completed for a client in my neighborhood. Used a dry pour concrete method that I’ve never done before. Turned out pretty well despite the worsening weather over the past few weeks

Just finished probably my strangest project to date - removable panels to protect two peach trees from winter rain. 22 panels in all, hung on brackets and secured with custom tie-downs at the bottom. All the wood is treated with water sealant

Completed last week, a long outdoor stairway replacing a steep, treacherous trail. Poured concrete footings, pressure-treated frame, and water-sealed cedar decking and stairs
