Lately I’ve been thinking about the work I want to keep moving toward.

The larger figure paintings… and these more expansive landscapes.

I love how they hold space and speak to each other through color, emotion, and a kind of quiet presence.

Back from the ocean and feeling refreshed. I took a long pause on almost everything including posting for a while and it was a much needed reset. The weather was iffy but I had at least two glorious days resting in the sun, breeze and next to the deep roar of the ocean waves and loving my new beach cabana.

Artists talk a lot about inspiration and technique. But not so much about the maintenance needed in between.

The little habits that quietly keep creativity alive.

For me lately it's been journaling, running, and spending a few minutes making something that doesn't have to become anything.

I've learned that those small practices are rarely a distraction from painting.

They're usually what lead me back to it.

I've been dreaming up something new for the studio.

It's not a class...or a workshop...

Just a welcoming space to slow down, make something with your hands, and spend time creating alongside other people.

I'm still working out the details, but I have a feeling it might become one of my favorite things to share.

More soon. 💛

This one is still waiting for me.

I haven't spent much time in the studio lately.

But every time I walk by, I get excited about where it's headed.

Sometimes paintings need a little space too.

I'm starting to think about future travels abroad again. (actually I am thinking about this all the time but now I am starting to think about really planning another one)

House swapping is what makes it possible for our family of six.

Right now we're cleaning, organizing, and getting our home ready for a few exchanges. This weekend is our first check-in, I've spent all week doing my yearly deep deep clean on the house. I'm almost done and am so tired.

It's a lot of work and some might think crazy. (and everyone asks where we go when having people stay at our house....this week camping at my sisters 😆

But the trips and memories are totally worth it!

Love planning and dreaming of traveling abroad again with my family again. Can't wait!!!

The end of May looked different than I expected.

I found myself needing rest more than momentum.

So here I am mid June already and slowly making some baby steps.

So instead of pushing to finish my painting, or jump into a new one, I've been cleaning, organizing, and catching up on life.

Sometimes making room is part of the creative process too.

I’m back to a slower rhythm
Moving stuff around in the studio is apparently what I do between big pushes
Also a lot of sitting and looking
Working things out on the canvas
And in my head 😆

Curtains yes or no?

This one found a home too.
The first, and only for now, of a series I’ve been wanting to come back to.
It’s always a mix of feelings letting certain pieces go,
but also really good to see them go where they’re meant to be.
When the time is right, I’ll come back to this series. (hint, the title is Bandon Sixteen and the series title will be “The Approach”)
