Scenes from a fall weekend 🍂🧡☀️

Currently new electrical is being ran to Daniel's ~ future ~ woodshop area. I also was able to run around for a few hours moving plants around. They have not been watered in yet so rain you BETTER come.

When it is rock moving day, firewood day, and the woodchip pile still hasn't been cleared. It is either winter or you are prepping for winter around here. 🍂❄️

Bread bread bread photoshoot

Did you know we have a cute little farmstand that features bread???

Daniel mills a portion of the flour himself. All maine grains. We also have sourdough cookies and crackers. And eggs when the chickens are laying.

The farmstand is also a sewing pick up/drop off for Jam Brook Textiles. A new community sewing machine was just added too.

Our quaint free pile was depleted after an epic garage sale. But that will return.

So come snag a loaf, say hi, bring a little something that might need stitchin' and hunt for a free treasure. It is a lovely drive here.

You know what is better than swimming in cold water on a fall day??? Jumping into a sauna right after.

I have a little whatsapp group to help coordinate sauna get togethers. It is a bargain deal where if we get 6 people it is only $25. Reach out if you would like to be included!! Hoping to plan these all winter long. Next one is Oct. 12th 730 PM. 🌝

Papa Mcnuggets by Daniel with chicken from our roosters he culled on Friday and his sourdough bread crumbs. Pretty special. 🍞🐓🌟

And garlic not from this year's harvest (because there was none), but last year. So we are going on over a year old. Wow, a little shrivled but it is doing its job.

Loose power for 2 hours sort of afternoon. We are keeping this fall lazy after a summer of fun. And our power has gone out repeatedly on beautiful calm days like this. Makes me wonder what winter is going to be like.

Our chicken coop was made by deconstructing two free chicken coops on FB marketplace and then using the materials to build ours.

The run was made by collecting everyone's old chicken wire (ya know the pile overgrown by weeds in the yard) and cobbling together a cohesive shelter.

The floor of the chicken coop was old stumps originally.

Daniel redid the floor so it wasn't a "rat palace" as I liked to call it. And he removed the run recently - we never really had used the run after 3+ years.

No finished photos here - but it is looking good. Overall we have enjoyed the large layout of the coop and the deep bedding system.

I'd say these crackers are ready to be added to the weekly line up for our Thursday bake day. Buttery, flakey, crunchy, and sourdough. We have made crackers before, but never that good. And now on the first attempt it seems the recipe is set - it is never that easy.

What shape though, and maybe some herbs or seeds mixed in? And how to package them up or store them at home.

Let's see how the next week goes.
