🚨 BEFORE YOU CALL A PLUMBER, READ THIS. 🚨

That $29 service call might not be the bargain you think it is.

More and more, small and family-owned plumbing companies are being bought by massive private equity companies. The business model can change from “How do we fix your problem?” to “How much can we sell you today?”

At Jimmy's Plumbing, we want homeowners to know what to watch for.

⚠️ ASK QUESTIONS.
What is actually wrong? What needs to be repaired? What is optional?

📋 GET AN ESTIMATE.
Ask for the price and a description of the work before you approve anything.

🚩 BEWARE OF PRESSURE.
If you're being pushed to sign something immediately or approve thousands of dollars in work before you've had time to understand the problem, slow down.

💰 BE CAREFUL WITH $29 DISPATCH OR $49 DRAIN CLEANING SPECIALS.

Think about it: a legitimate plumbing company has to cover fuel, insurance, licensing, equipment, vehicle expenses, wages, and more just to get a properly equipped truck and plumber to your driveway.

So how can someone realistically do all that for $29?

Because sometimes they're not selling a $29 service — they're buying an opportunity to get inside your home.

Once they're there, some companies measure technicians by their “average ticket” — how much revenue they generate per call. When compensation is tied heavily to sales, the incentive can become less about repairing the problem and more about selling additional work.

A $150 toilet repair is one thing.

A $6,000 recommendation for equipment or additional work is another.

You deserve to know the difference.

And remember: the biggest logo, flashiest commercial, or shiniest van doesn't automatically mean the best plumber.

👉 Do your research.
👉 Ask for an estimate.
👉 Get a second opinion when possible.
👉 Don't let an emergency force you into a decision.

🌿 Another landscaping cleanup completed! This one definitely took some work, but I’m happy with how everything came together. We removed the unwanted lilies, overgrown mint and herbs, rosemary bush, weeds, roots, cut down some pine limbs/branches hanging over the beds and a few old stumps to open the beds back up. After getting everything cleared out, I tilled and loosened up the soil, cleaned up the beds, laid landscape fabric where needed and finished everything off with fresh pine bark mulch. A couple trips for mulch and plenty of hard work in this heat, but that’s part of the job. The customer now has a cleaner area with plenty of room to add new plants and shrubs in the future. I’m thankful for another opportunity to work and for the help from my dad getting this one knocked out. 🙏🏽

With all the rain and strong winds we had yesterday, I know there are a lot of yards with fallen limbs, branches, trees, and debris laying around. 🌧️🌳

Another project wrapped up in Seagrove, NC! 🔨 This 10x14 shed for Crystal King Pottery got a complete interior transformation—from exposed framing to insulating the ceiling, hanging and finishing the drywall, mudding, sanding, priming, painting, and putting the shelves and light back up. It definitely took some time, patience, and a lot of sanding 😅, but seeing the before and after made it all worth it. Before & After 10x14 Shed Restoration in Seagrove, NC 🔨

Another project wrapped up! This 10x14 shed for Crystal King Pottery got a complete interior transformation. We started with the exposed framing and worked our way through insulating the ceiling, hanging drywall, mudding and finishing all the joints, sanding everything smooth, priming, and finally painting the walls and ceiling. We also hung the shelves and light back up to get the space ready for the customer to use again.

Definitely took some time, patience, and plenty of sanding 😅, but seeing the before and after makes it all worth it.

Very thankful to Crystal for trusting RC Landscape & Handyman with another project and giving me the opportunity to help bring her pottery shed back to life.
