Yesterday’s job was a great example of why proper installation matters just as much as the equipment you buy.

We were called out to perform a warranty compressor replacement on a two-stage heat pump system. While going through the system, we discovered another issue that had been there since the original installation.

The low-voltage wiring had been incorrectly configured, preventing the system from operating the way it was designed. Instead of utilizing both stages of capacity, this two-stage system had only been operating in a single stage.

We replaced the failed compressor, corrected the wiring issues, and made sure the system was properly set up and operating as designed.

It’s a good reminder that an HVAC installation is about much more than simply putting new equipment in place. Proper wiring, setup, commissioning, and attention to detail can make a major difference in your system’s performance, efficiency, reliability, and longevity.

Cheaper isn’t always better. When choosing an HVAC contractor, price is certainly important—but so is knowing the job will be done correctly the first time.

At Artisan Air, we believe the details matter.

One of the most common questions I get is, “How often should I change my air filter?”

The answer: it depends, but a good rule of thumb is to check it every 30 days.

Here in Florida, our AC systems get a serious workout, especially during the hotter months. A dirty filter can restrict airflow, make your system work harder, increase energy consumption, and contribute to unnecessary wear on your equipment.

How often your filter actually needs to be changed can depend on several things, including the type of filter you use, how often your system runs, whether you have pets, the conditions inside your home, and even the condition of your home’s ductwork. All of these can play a big role in how long your filter can go before needing to be changed.

A clean filter helps maintain proper airflow, improves system efficiency, and reduces strain on your equipment.

It only takes a minute to check, and it’s one of the easiest and least expensive things you can do to take care of your AC system.

Why I Started Artisan Air

For as long as I can remember, I’ve taken pride in doing things the right way.

After spending years in the HVAC industry, I knew I wanted to build something of my own. Not because I wanted to be the biggest company, but because I believed homeowners deserved a better experience.

As someone born and raised right here in Sarasota, Florida, it was important to build a locally owned and operated company that serves the same community that’s been home my entire life.

I wanted to create a company where quality always comes before rushing to the next job. Where craftsmanship isn’t just a slogan—it’s the standard. Where every customer is treated with honesty, respect, and the same level of care I’d want for my own family.

When I leave a home, I want to know the job was done right. I want every installation to be clean, efficient, and built to last. I want to be proud to put my name on every system we install and every repair we make.

That’s what Artisan Air was founded on.

It’s about more than heating and air conditioning. It’s about taking pride in every detail, communicating honestly, standing behind our work, and earning your trust from the very first phone call to the final walkthrough.

To everyone who has trusted Artisan Air so far—thank you. Your support means more than you know. Every referral, every review, and every opportunity to serve this community helps build the company I’ve always envisioned.

I look forward to serving Sarasota and Manatee counties for many years to come.

If you’re looking for an HVAC company that believes quality still matters, I’d be honored to earn your trust. And if we’ve had the opportunity to work together, I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments. Your support, recommendations, and shares truly help a local small business grow.

✨ Another UV light installation complete! ✨

Today we installed a dual-bulb UV light system—one UV lamp positioned at the evaporator coil and a second targeting the blower wheel for maximum protection.

UV lights help keep your HVAC system cleaner by reducing the growth of mold, mildew, bacteria, and other microorganisms on critical components. A cleaner system can improve airflow, help maintain efficiency, reduce unwanted odors, and contribute to better indoor air quality.

Whether you choose a single UV light or a dual-bulb system, it’s a great investment in protecting your HVAC equipment and the air your family breathes every day.

If you’d like to learn whether a UV light is a good fit for your system, give Artisan Air a call. We’d be happy to help!

✅Blower wheel removed and professionally cleaned
✅Evaporator coil cleaned in place to restore airflow and efficiency
✅Dual-bulb UV light system installed to help keep the coil cleaner and reduce the growth of mold, mildew, and other microorganisms inside the air handler

One thing we also addressed was the air filter. A properly fitting filter is just as important as changing it regularly. Gaps around the filter allow unfiltered air to bypass the media, carrying dust and debris directly onto the blower and evaporator coil. Over time, that buildup restricts airflow, reduces efficiency, and can lead to costly repairs.

Adding UV lights provides another layer of protection by helping keep the evaporator coil cleaner, improving indoor air quality, and reducing the conditions that allow biological growth inside your HVAC system.

At Artisan Air, we don't believe in quick fixes-we believe in doing the job right and helping your system perform at its best for years to come.
If your system hasn't had a professional cleaning in a while, we'd be happy to help.
