This was such a fun little series, I don’t get to use this much blue very often, and I had 5 or 6 different shades on the palette. Phthalo turquoise got a workout for sure. The second one is obviously my favorite, but what do you think? Should I paint more? I have a reference photo of a lionfish that’s calling out to me.

The last (for now) in my little aquarium series. My oldest son and his friend in the deep sea room (my favorite!). I loved the shape of their silhouettes against the wall of glass. Only wish I could have caught the sunfish too!

Painting Yellowstone like I’m running out of time…but also feeling like an…imposter? while doing it?

I don’t know, this is a strange feeling that I can’t quite explain. Like this landscape is too different from the landscape that I live in that I haven’t earned the right to paint it.

I’m on my 5th painting so far and I LOVE them all, I can’t wait to release this collection. But I just can’t shake this feeling. Can anyone relate?

I always mean to take “progress” photos while I’m painting. But what usually happens is I take one at the beginning, 5 minutes in, and then completely forget about it.

So I set a reminder, and it was interesting, I thought I would get more done in 15 minutes 😂 it felt like that timer was going off so often!

Loved how this painting of Jellybowl beach turned out though. Planning on painting several more and a few larger pieces of it too. I went during golden hour recently and got the most beautiful references. Between these and my hundreds of photos from traveling this summer I’m set for the next 1,000 studio hours.

Painted in oil on Ampersand Art Supply panel, sold.

We went to Yellowstone this summer and I took about a thousand reference photos 😝 feeling inspired and excited to paint something so different than my usual Santa Barbara landscapes.

This one is the first in the series, Yellowstone Lake, taken at sunrise. We were looking for bears (found 2!) but I also got some of the most beautiful reference photos of my life.

Oil on Ampersand Art Supply panel, 10x10 inches.

Following a trend just to tell you guys about Hoopla 😂 because it’s maybe the best thing about the library and SO many people don’t realize it.

And if you are a lover of audiobooks like me please drop your favorites below👇 I’m always looking for more!

A few of my absolute favorites have been “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” “Remarkably Bright Creatures” and “Rolling in the Deep/Into the Drowning Deep” which is about (hear me out) killer mermaids, I’m not usually a science fiction/horror fan but this one was so good I listened to it twice.
