One for spooky season 👻

I don’t know what got into me, I decided on a whim to go about this one completely differently. Like a crazy person with no plan apparently. But here it is documented in 15 minute increments for you.

I don’t hate the final result. But took the long way to get there.

I painted several thermal features for my recent Yellowstone series, and just like Yellowstone itself all of them are very different. This one was maybe the most difficult, because the whole thing was in bright sunlight and the interesting bits were rather small (the aqua blue of the pool and the geyser in the distance). Still, I don’t hate it and it does remind me of that day.

I couldn’t have a Yellowstone series and not include the thermal features!

These were an interesting venture from my usual subjects, I loved that turquoise shade in the deep pools, and the bacteria mat was fun too. The thing that tripped me up the most was the steam, that was trickier than I anticipated. I feel like if I was painting in layers like I used to it would have been easier, but I am too impatient to wait for paint to dry 😅
