A green canopy doesn’t always tell the whole story. 🌳

After a full Southwest Florida summer, it’s worth looking beyond the leaves. Crossing limbs, deadwood, uneven canopy growth and excessive regrowth from previous pruning can all signal that a tree deserves a closer look.

Good tree care starts with understanding how the tree is growing—not simply what can be cut.

Tree West provides professional tree and palm care with ISA Certified Arborist oversight throughout Southwest Florida.

Have a mature tree you’re unsure about? We’re happy to take a closer look.

Hurricane season isn’t over — and proper pruning matters. 🌳

For Southwest Florida property owners, tree preparation isn’t about cutting back as much as possible. Proper pruning focuses on removing dead or compromised limbs, improving structure and addressing potential concerns without unnecessarily stressing the tree.

And when it comes to palms, aggressive “hurricane cuts” can do more harm than good.

Our latest Tree West article breaks down why proper pruning matters during hurricane season and what Southwest Florida homeowners and property managers should know.

Serving homeowners, HOAs, condominiums and commercial properties throughout Naples, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, Sanibel, Captiva and surrounding Southwest Florida communities.

🌳 September in Southwest Florida means storm season isn’t over.

The best time to find a problem tree isn’t after the wind picks up.

Dead or compromised limbs, excessive canopy weight, weak branch unions and declining trees can become much bigger concerns when severe weather arrives. Proper assessment and pruning now can help identify potential hazards before they become an emergency.

Tree West’s ISA Certified Arborists provide professional tree evaluations, pruning, canopy management and removals throughout Southwest Florida.

If you haven’t had your trees looked at recently, now is a good time.

Great partnerships are built around more than business—they’re built through relationships, conversations, and bringing the right people together.

We recently had the opportunity to enjoy a Partner Appreciation Dinner with some incredible people who continue to support, collaborate, and help strengthen our local business community.

A big thank you to MyTown Communities LLC, Tree West, and Island Home Service for being part of it. We appreciate the relationships we’ve built and look forward to continuing to grow together.

Here’s to great food, great people, and even stronger partnerships! 🥂

Building the canopy from the ground up. 🌴

The palms and trees on this recent project do more than finish the landscape — they establish its structure.

Proper species selection, placement and installation all matter when you’re planning for how trees will mature around a home, driveway and surrounding landscape.

Tree West brings an arborist perspective to the property from installation through long-term care.

Have trees or palms you’re planning around? We’re always happy to take a look.

A cleaner-looking palm isn’t necessarily a healthier palm.

Throughout Southwest Florida, we regularly see palms that have been over-pruned, with healthy or partially green fronds removed to create a tighter canopy.

Those fronds still serve a purpose.

Proper palm pruning generally focuses on dead material and legitimate hazards while preserving healthy foliage. Repeatedly stripping palms down can unnecessarily stress the tree and contribute to long-term problems.

When it comes to palms, more pruning doesn’t mean better care.

🌳 Arborist Property Spotlight | Proactive Care for a Mature Canopy

Properties like this are exactly why arborist care shouldn’t be viewed as a once-every-few-years service.

This residence has an established, dense canopy that we maintain on a recurring basis. Regular visits allow our team to monitor changes in tree structure, identify deadwood or developing concerns, manage canopy growth, and make thoughtful pruning decisions before small issues become larger ones.

The goal isn’t simply to trim trees — it’s to preserve the character, health and integrity of a mature canopy over time.

With established trees, consistency matters.
