In a heat wave the system runs longer to hold the same temperature - that’s normal. What isn’t is how much longer a clogged filter makes it run, or how much cool air a leaking duct dumps into the attic. Two rooms in this Redwood City house never got cool. The rest of the house was fine.

That is almost never the system itself. When one part of a house holds temperature and another does not, the air is not arriving. Undersized returns, runs that are too long or too narrow, leaks that lose the air before it ever reaches the room.

A bigger unit would not have fixed it. We replaced the system with a heat pump and redesigned the ductwork so each room gets the airflow it needs. Permitted and inspected, our crew start to finish.

Both rooms hold temperature now, and the house heats and cools with one system.

The AC starts and the breaker trips. Don’t just flip it back on.

The breaker is doing its job - a compressor draws several times more current at startup, and something in that circuit is already at its limit. Sometimes a failing capacitor, sometimes a circuit that was never sized for everything on it.

It doesn’t fix itself, and it fails on the hottest day. We hold both HVAC and electrical licenses, so one Ozone Service visit covers both sides. Diagnostics are free.

What is not included: work that takes real time and pulling equipment apart. If the answer is behind that kind of teardown, we tell you what it costs, and you approve it first.

Setting it to 65 doesn’t cool the house faster.

Your AC has one speed. Dropping the thermostat lower doesn’t make it blow harder - it just makes it run longer.

Set a temperature you’re comfortable with and leave it there.

But if the system runs all day and still never reaches the temperature you set, that’s not normal. Something is wrong, and it’s costing you every hour it runs. We’ll come find it - diagnostics are free.
