Most homes have more outdoor space than we think.

The side yard. The space outside a bedroom. The passage between the house and the fence. Even the roof over the garage.

At Neptune, we stopped treating those spaces as leftovers and designed each one with a reason to go outside.

A shower tucked into a narrow side yard.
An outdoor kitchen connected directly to the house.
A cedar soaking tub surrounded by the garden.
And another outdoor space upstairs.

The design lesson: don’t put everything in the backyard.

Look at the entire property and ask what each overlooked space could become.

Sometimes the best outdoor room is hiding in a place you weren’t calling a room at all.

Save this for the next time you look at that awkward side yard differently.

A backyard doesn’t need to be enormous to live big.

For Poinsettia Park, we designed a series of outdoor spaces made for the way this family actually lives — gathering around the fire, dinner beneath the pergola, cooking outside, wandering through the edible garden, or rinsing off under the open sky.

The goal wasn’t to fill the yard with features. It was to make every part of it feel considered, connected, and genuinely good to live in.

There’s something special about rinsing off after a swim, a surf session, or simply a day spent outside.

For this project, we wanted the outdoor shower to feel less like a place to rinse off and more like a daily ritual.

Handmade tile, warm brass fixtures, handcrafted ceramic hooks, soft plaster walls, tropical planting, and thoughtful storage all work together to create a space that’s equal parts functional and restorative.

Because the best outdoor spaces aren’t just beautiful—they become part of the rhythm of your everyday life.
