🏠 FROM ROOFING PROJECT TO FINISHED HOME

One of the best parts of working in new construction is getting the opportunity to come back months later and see how everything came together.

We recently revisited several homes where AP Roofing & Construction completed the roofing and related exterior trades during construction. At the time, we were surrounded by scaffolding, material deliveries, unfinished exteriors, and multiple trades working to bring the plans to life.

Now, we get to see the finished product.

These homes are a great example of how much the roof contributes to the overall architecture. The clean lines of standing seam metal, combined with natural stone, wood siding, modern windows, landscaping, and custom exterior details create homes that feel distinctly Texas while each having their own character.

We’re grateful for the builders who continue to trust our team with their projects and allow us to play a part in homes of this caliber. There is a tremendous amount of work that happens between plans on a page and a finished home, and it’s always rewarding to see the craftsmanship of every trade come together.

For us, it’s about more than installing a roof. It’s about delivering a finished system that complements the architecture and looks just as good when the entire home is complete.

🔨 CUSTOM METAL PROJECT | THE VISION IS TAKING SHAPE

A few days ago, we shared a sneak peek at one of the more unique custom fabrication projects our team has been working on. Now you can really start to see the vision coming together.

Using a 24-gauge woodgrain-painted steel, we’re fabricating and installing a series of architectural elements designed specifically for this home—including the wood-look members being incorporated into this custom circular carport structure.

The contrast between the warm woodgrain finish, black structural steel, and standing seam metal roofing is creating a pretty incredible result.

Projects like this are exactly why we expanded beyond traditional roofing.

We enjoy working alongside builders, architects, and designers to take an idea that may not have an off-the-shelf solution and figure out how to fabricate it, how to install it, and how to make the finished product match the original design intent.

A huge thank you to Robare Custom Homes for trusting our team to help bring these details to life. Their commitment to creative design, quality, and craftsmanship is evident throughout this home, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to work alongside their team on such a unique project.

And we’re not finished yet.

There’s still quite a bit more to install—including completing the circular portion of this custom structure—but we wanted to share a look at the progress because this is where a design on paper really starts coming to life.

Stay tuned. The next update should be a good one.

🏠 ANOTHER ONE DRIED-IN | WIMBERLEY, TX

Another custom home in Wimberley is officially dried-in and ready for the next phase!

Our team has completed the roof dry-in, providing the home with the necessary weather protection while the other exterior trades continue making progress.

Next up, we’ll let the siding and paint crews do their work before returning to install the finished Atlas Roofing - Shingles system. Coordinating the roofing installation with the other trades helps protect the finished roof from unnecessary construction traffic and keeps the project moving in the right sequence.

We’re grateful for another opportunity to work alongside Kurk Homes: Custom Home Builder in the Texas Hill Country and be part of these homes from the early stages through the finished product.

🔨 Dry-in complete.
🎨 Siding & paint up next.
🏠 Atlas Roofing system to follow.

Stay tuned—we’ll share the finished roof once we’re back!

👀 LOOKS LIKE WOOD. IT’S ACTUALLY STEEL.

We wanted to share a few before photos and architectural details from a custom project we’ve been working on—and this one is going to be fun to watch come together.

We’re using a new woodgrain-painted steel product to fabricate several custom interior and exterior architectural elements throughout this home.

This is one of our favorite parts of what we do—working alongside our builder partners to take an idea from the architectural plans, through fabrication, and ultimately to the finished home. Projects like this give us the opportunity to explore new materials and techniques and figure out how to turn some pretty unique architectural concepts into reality.

The photos may not look like much yet—but that's the point. These are the “before” pictures. 👀

We’ll be transforming several of these spaces with custom-fabricated woodgrain steel, and we’re excited to share the process and finished results soon.

Stay tuned. This one is going to look completely different when we're finished. 🔨

🏠 PROJECT UPDATE | WIMBERLEY, TX

Another milestone reached on this custom Hill Country home!

All of the underlayment and ice & water shield are now installed, completing the next layer of this specialized exterior roof insulation assembly.

What started with 5/8” ZIP System decking, 1.5” polyiso insulation, battens, and a secondary layer of OSB sheathing is now dried-in and ready for the part everyone will see.

🔩 Next up: Standing seam metal roofing!

We wanted to share a few updated photos before all of the building science and craftsmanship underneath this roof is permanently hidden by the finished metal system.

Stay tuned—this one is going to look incredible when it’s complete!

🏠 BUILDING BETTER FROM THE ROOF DOWN | WIMBERLEY, TX

Sometimes, what’s underneath a standing seam metal roof is just as impressive as the finished roof itself.

We wanted to share a few in-progress photos from this custom home in Wimberley, Texas, where our team is installing a specialized exterior roof insulation assembly similar in concept to systems often demonstrated by builder and building-science educator Matt Risinger.

This isn’t your typical roof installation. The assembly was carefully built in layers:

🔹 5/8” ZIP System roof decking
🔹 1.5” polyiso rigid insulation above the primary roof deck
🔹 A strategically installed batten system
🔹 A second layer of OSB roof sheathing
🔹 Sythetic felt underlayment and ice & water shield at critical areas
🔹 Next up: Standing seam metal roofing 🔩

This type of assembly incorporates continuous exterior insulation above the roof deck while creating a solid secondary substrate for the finished roofing system. It’s a great example of how thoughtful building science and quality craftsmanship come together long before the finished roof is visible.

Projects like this are one of the reasons we enjoy working with custom builders. Every home is different, and sometimes the right solution means going well beyond a conventional roof assembly and carefully executing the details required by the builder, architect, and design team.

For now, much of this work will soon be hidden beneath the finished roof—but we wanted to give you a look at what goes into building it before the standing seam panels arrive.

Stay tuned. We can’t wait to show you the finished product!
