Today I helped some lovely folks in Sauk Rapids improve their garage access. A precarious single step immediately outside the threshold was replaced with a main floor level landing. We also put in a nice grab rail for stability.

Simple fixes for big usability improvements. It's how the Pantown Craftsman do.

It's been a busy couple months, with requests for fun and challenging jobs coming regularly. In fact I've been so busy I keep forgetting to take photos.

When I started this company I told my wife to slap me twice if I ever said I was going to build a deck. They are just too much physical work for a one-man show of a certain age. Yet somehow I ended up building four of them already. Here's the most recent, which the customer will be staining. Flat, square, straight, level. Resting on solid footings. That's how The Pantown Craftsman do.

Under the category of stuff you might not think to ask a handyman to do, I can help you organize and store those big awkward things in your garage. Here I created custom pulley setups for a cargo box and a canoe that allow easy, single rope raising and lowering. I can even install an electric motor to operate the whole thing if you prefer.

I had another cabinetry project today. I installed this unit where the client formerly had a microwave. It has a detachable front panel for utility access, so we needed a way to put the crown molding on without interfering with that. I created a panel that sets into the top of the cabinet and installed the crown molding on that. The entire cap can be lifted away, but no one would be the wiser.

Finished up a custom cabinet conversion today. I turned a double-sided apron/broom cabinet into shallow adjustable shelving. The client requested 3" fences, and I couldn't find anything I liked so I made my own out of aluminum rod. I think they complement the brushed nickel door pulls pretty well. I used a combination of rear and bottom slots to make the shelves more secure and stable.

Lots of small tasks for this week's client. Not much of it is photogenic, but it's all important work for keeping their house in good repair. I did put up some simple custom security cam mounts with leftover maintenance-free decking.

I finished a multi-day project updating an office space in town yesterday. I framed a head wall in an alcove, wallpapered it and installed crown molding (salvaged from inside the alcove), then installed a painted bifold door. I also installed cabinet kick panels and vinyl base in the office kitchen and replaced some stained ceiling tile. It all came out really nice and enhanced a great team's workspace.

And the grout is done! I'm very happy with the outcome. The tile spacing is uniform and consistent with the existing tile. Edge lines along the cabinet are sharp and clean. Everything looks like it grew there, as Dad used to say.

(The tile below the range hood is new, in case you missed yesterday's post.)

I spent part of today repairing a wall and setting new tile where there used to be a microwave oven. Tomorrow, we grout!

Thank you to all my new followers! Things have started off well, but I do have openings in my schedule yet. I'm not so popular you have to book me far in advance like a fine restaurant. 😁 If you have something you think I can help with, please contact me.
