Anyone else about ready to trade the skid loader for a boat? 😂🌧️

September has definitely tested our patience!

Week after week of rain has left jobsites saturated and made keeping our projects moving a challenge. And apparently Mother Nature isn’t finished with us yet. 😬

A huge THANK YOU to all of our clients for your patience and understanding. We know you’re excited to see your projects completed—and trust us, we’re just as anxious to get them finished!

Unfortunately, some parts of landscape construction simply can’t be rushed when the ground conditions aren’t right. We’d rather wait for better conditions than compromise the quality of your project.

The good news? ☀️ It looks like some sunshine and several dry days may finally be headed our way!

A pretty special project for us today! 🌳

After all the rain, we finally caught a beautiful dry morning to spend with the I-35 preschool classes as part of their Tree Study this week.

We brought out the Vermeer and planted a beautiful Sun Valley Red Maple, but the best part was letting the kids help us finish the job. Every student in all three preschool classes got a turn with one of the little shovels and added some soil around their new tree. 😁

We finished everything off with mulch, staking and a trunk protector to help give their new maple a great start.

A HUGE shoutout and thank you to Bentley Ridge Tree Farm & Nursery in Grimes for donating the tree! When we told them about the preschoolers’ Tree Study and what we wanted to do, they were more than happy to help make it happen. We really appreciate their generosity and support of our local kids and school. 👏🌳

Hopefully these kids will get to watch this tree grow right along with them — and years from now be able to say, “I helped plant that tree when I was in preschool.”

Thanks to the teachers and kids at I-35 for letting us be a small part of their Tree Study. We had a blast!

Big things are happening in this Waukee backyard.

We’ve officially started on a major outdoor living transformation, and this one is going to be fun to watch come together.

Right now we’re in the demolition and site-prep phase — removing the existing patio and landscaping, opening up the backyard, and getting everything ready for what’s next.

When it’s finished, this space will include new patios, natural stone, an outdoor kitchen, a gas fire feature, landscape lighting, and more.

A lot of the hard work happens long before the finished pictures ever show up, so we thought we’d bring you along for the process. 👊🏽

Stay tuned…this backyard is going to look completely different when we’re finished. 😎

🔥 Backyard goals.

We recently wrapped up this paver patio and custom gas fire pit project in Norwalk.

The new patio creates a large, low-maintenance outdoor living space with plenty of room for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying cool Iowa evenings. We also carried the pavers underneath the deck to make the entire backyard feel connected and usable.

We recently completed this landscape lighting project in Echo Valley, Norwalk, and these twilight photos perfectly capture what we set out to create.

Our goal wasn’t to make the landscape brighter—it was to create warmth, add depth, highlight the beautiful stonework and gardens, and extend the enjoyment of this outdoor space well into the evening.

The difference thoughtful lighting makes is incredible. During the day, it’s a beautiful landscape. At night, it becomes an entirely different experience.

From steep slopes and aging retaining walls to a backyard built for entertaining. 😎

This West Des Moines project started with a challenging grade change, older retaining walls, and underutilized outdoor spaces.

The finished result features massive Castlewood Ledge Rock retaining walls, custom stone steps, multiple patios, fire features, and thoughtfully designed gathering spaces that blend naturally into the landscape.
