When I first visited this Rancho Cordova yard, it was a plain, flat lawn. We saw the chance to give it a whole new dimension with a pond and waterfall.

We terraced the hillside and built a pond right beside the patio, so the family can enjoy the water up close. Starting with a medium Aquascape pond kit, we added liner to create a beautiful, multi-tiered waterfall. We also made a little beach where their young kids can ease into the pond and explore the water as they grow.

The family now has two boys, and every time I visit, I think about what a dream backyard this will be for them: rocks to explore, waterfalls to splash in, and a pond that invites the whole family outside.

This Chicago front yard is a wonderful example of what can be created in almost any space. A welcoming pondless waterfall and bubbling basalt columns draw you toward the front porch, transforming an ordinary walkway into a magical entrance.

Clear Water Designs has been creating some very large water features lately, but the Chicago Pond Tour brought us back to our beginnings. It was refreshing to see how even a small water feature can completely transform a landscape—without requiring a budget-breaking project.

Sometimes, a little water creates a lot of magic. 💧✨

One of the many great things about being a certified Aquascape contractor is the team. Aquascape’s West Coast Representatives came out to visit the farm and got to see how our water features make this an amazing home for all creatures.

Clear Water Designs does more than custom ponds and waterfalls—we design complete outdoor spaces around the way our clients want to live.

When these homeowners moved in, their backyard was predominantly lawn, with very little space for family to gather and enjoy the outdoors. We redesigned the landscape to create more functional outdoor living space, and they asked for one special element: a focal point with the beautiful sound of water.

They already had a swimming pool, so instead of another large water feature, we designed a Fountainscape to become the centerpiece of the yard.

Their wish list was simple: color, texture, beautiful sound, low maintenance, and a child-safe design. Because this backyard is also exposed to intense summer heat, material selection was especially important. After considering several options, we chose ceramic pottery for its beauty, durability, and ability to stand up to the environment for years to come.

The result is a water feature that brings movement, color and sound into the landscape without taking up the entire yard.

Sometimes the perfect water feature isn’t a pond or waterfall. Sometimes it’s a thoughtfully placed fountain that completely changes how a space feels.

We love dogs — and we know a lot of your dogs enjoy your ponds just as much as you do! 💦🐶

International Dog Day is also a reminder that every dog deserves love, a safe home, and a family to call their own. It was founded in part to raise awareness for the many wonderful dogs in shelters and rescues still waiting for that chance.

So let’s celebrate ALL the dogs tomorrow — the spoiled ones, the swimming ones, the muddy ones, the rescued ones, and especially the ones still waiting for their person. 🐾❤️
