Unfortunate news from what we call the “OG” garden 😢

The other day we were notified that packs of shingles staged on the roof fell and crushed a good chunk of the garden.

The main take away of course is that no one was hurt, as no one was outside when it happened.

Second takeaway: Gardening is a lot of work, a lot of thought, and an ever evolving process. But some things are beyond your control, and occasionally things like this happen. This could have been much worse.

Rather than looking at this as a set back, we get an opportunity to revisit the space and see where we can edit, enhance, add anything as part of the ongoing evolution of the garden!

Keep moving forward, keep creating!

It’s been about two years since we brought home this beautiful Hoya ‘Rosita’ (wayettii x tsangii).

First time we’ve seen it flower!
Just one little cluster but we’ll take it! 🌺🌺🌺

With a random assortment of plants, this little experiment was meant to see if/how some of these leftovers and cast offs might fare while also potentially serving the purpose of enclosing the space below deck and shading out some of the w**d pressure

Exciting to see most of these plants surviving and even starting to bloom! Definitely in need of some restructuring and additions but fun to see!

6.13.2026 the ‘OG’ garden in full force!

In the beginning, the main objectives were simple: Fill the space, crowd out w**ds, work with shade.

With those in mind, we set out to give a naturalistic, multi season show of various textures, colors and bloom times within a small space.

Looking at this first season since the original planting, I think we met our objectives. But we are far from finished. This garden will continue to evolve. It’s only done when the imagination stops (or the client says “You’re done! Get outta here!”), and that’s the beauty of it

Most recent video of the OG garden from two weeks ago.

Added some more mature columbine plants in, added more columbine to fill in some of the space and add a light, airy texture with its foliage. The blooms aren’t half bad either!

Can’t wait to get back and see it soon!
