There’s something about being surrounded by growing things that brings a little extra peace. 🌿💚

This season looks a little different for me as I continue recovering from surgery. I’m more of an observer than a true all hands in the dirt gardener right now, but that hasn’t stopped me from appreciating every new bloom, every tiny seedling starting to grow and every bit of life happening in the greenhouse and garden. The other day Madeline placed bamboo sticks in all the Roma tomato beds in preparation of them starting to grow taller and attached them. This is no small task! There’s a little over 100 tomato plants. She’s been an excellent helper this year.

Even with limitations, this is still my happy place. Watching everything grow is a reminder that progress comes in its own time and that there’s beauty in slowing down.

Here’s to healing, patience, and finding joy wherever we can. 🌱✨

My cast came off today! What an emotional moment. It’s in these vulnerable moments I find I miss my mom the most. I want to call her and hear her laugh at my silly anxiety of having my cast removed. She would probably make a joke to lighten my mood (she was a nurse) and then add some words of comfort. Then she would say let’s go get some Dairy Queen to celebrate! Then I look down and there’s her handwriting tattooed on the very wrist I just had reconstruction surgery on. A fluke? Just a crazy coincidence? Maybe. I like to think this is a little wink from her. So I straighten up and think I got this.
Now on to healing this wrist and forearm. I have physical therapy for the next few months twice a week and a new splint.

Doesn’t this vintage garden utensil look lovely in my pepper bed?! I repurposed it to be an ornamental fixture. I love the aged patina on it. That’s better!

Pollinators Paradise Island is finally planted with a ton of wildflower seeds. Bring on the sun, the bees and the butterflies! This specific area was designed by me a couple of years back with the intention to attract pollinators. Last year I added the bird bath with a solar powered fountain along with another bird bath where I placed numerous small colored glass cubes. This was to enable the bees a safe place to land and get hydrated.
Last year my garden flourished because of this specific area. If you garden, you need to support and feed your pollinators in order to have a successful harvest.

I think I’ve officially found my new garden must have!
