Do you know what it means to be a Gold Star Family?
A Gold Star Family is a family that has lost a loved one who died while serving our country. Behind every Gold Star is a name, a face, a family, and a sacrifice that changed that family forever.
For us, that name is LCpl Jeffrey D. Walker, USMC.
Jeffrey was our brother, son, father, and so much more. He was killed in Iraq on May 14, 2007, while serving our country. From that day forward, the words Gold Star Family became part of our family's story.
Years later, when we built our family business, we chose the name Gold Star Heating & Cooling in Jeffrey's honor. It wasn't simply a business name. It was our way of carrying his name and his sacrifice with us into something we were building for the next generation.
And one of the greatest blessings was watching Jeffrey's son, Conner, become part of Gold Star. He worked beside our family wearing the name that honored his daddy. We never imagined we would lose him too.
So when you see Gold Star on our trucks, shirts, or signs, we hope you know there is a story behind those words.
There is a Marine who gave his life for his country.
There is a son who grew up carrying his daddy's legacy and became part of the business created in his honor.
And there is a family determined to make sure neither of them is ever forgotten.
This week, we honor Jeffrey and every fallen service member whose family carries that Gold Star. And we remember the mothers, fathers, spouses, children, siblings, and loved ones who continue carrying their memory every single day.
For some, it's a gold star.
For us, it's family. ⭐🇺🇸
