MB Contractors and Interactive Design Group (IDG) have worked together on many projects. This week, we came together to honor someone whose service deserves recognition.

MB Contractors’ Corporate Secretary/Treasurer Christina Bradley volunteers with the Quilts of Valor Foundation and leads the Roanoke QOV Stitcher group. She recently presented a Quilt of Valor to Lou L., IDG’s Chief Maintenance Officer and a U.S. Army veteran.

Lou proudly served in the United States Army as an E-3 during the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1957. He was assigned to the 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, and continued his service in the Active Reserve from 1958 to 1959.

During the ceremony, MB Contractors President Todd Morgan and IDG Founding Principal Bill Hume had the honor of wrapping Lou in his quilt.

Thank you for your service, Lou.

Happy Flashback Friday! Today we take a trip down memory lane with Sterling Smith, Director of Operations, and Isaac Hill, Superintendent. Pictured here, Sterling and Isaac share lunch at Christian Heritage Academy (CHA) during their high school years.

Fast-forward more than 20 years: Sterling and Isaac are back in that very same building, this time helping create new classrooms, an addition, and more for the school's elementary wing. Hear from Sterling and Isaac as they recount what this project personally means to them.

As students return to Christian Heritage Academy (CHA), we’re proud to celebrate the completion of an exciting campus expansion designed to serve the school’s elementary students. The project included new classrooms, an elevator, two stair towers, a cafetorium, sidewalks, a new parking lot, and an improved drop-off area, all created to support CHA’s growing school community.

We were also honored to join CHA for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the announcement of their new elementary wing: Cooper Hall, named in grateful recognition of the Mac & Inglath Cooper family and their faithful generosity and partnership with CHA.

Thank you to the project’s architect, Balzer & Associates (Westwood Professional Services) for helping bring this vision to life.

Congratulations, CHA, and welcome back, students!

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: TRADITIONAL MEDICINALS

Over the past several months, our team has been hard at work constructing the new 110,000-square-foot Traditional Medicinals manufacturing facility in Rocky Mount, Virginia.
This project represents much more than a typical industrial building. Once complete, the facility will serve as Traditional Medicinals’ East Coast Manufacturing Facility and support one of the nation’s leaders in botanical wellness.

A few numbers that help tell the story:
▪️ 110,000 SF Phase 1 facility
▪️ 42-foot-tall concrete tilt-panel construction
▪️ Approximately 150+ workers have contributed on-site throughout construction
▪️ Building Construction began in October 2025
▪️ Expected Substantial Completion: September 2026
▪️ Production anticipated to begin in October 2026

Located within Summit View Business Park, this facility will become the park’s third completed building. Despite its industrial use, the site is surrounded by rolling farmland and mountain views, creating a unique setting for both employees and visitors. The building’s design incorporates extensive window space throughout, allowing natural light into the facility while taking advantage of the surrounding landscape.

The facility has also been designed with future growth in mind. Current plans call for several additional phases over the next decade, ultimately bringing the campus to approximately 250,000+ square feet.

One of the most impressive aspects of the project is the advanced manufacturing and packaging technology that will be housed within the facility. The building has been designed to accommodate highly automated operations while providing room for future expansion as additional phases are developed.

Projects like this require the coordinated efforts of owners, designers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and construction professionals working toward a common goal. We’re proud to be part of bringing this investment to Franklin County and helping create a facility that will support future growth in the region for years to come.
