Tankless water heaters, unlike traditional tank-style heaters, do not store water but heat it on demand.
Over time, minerals such as calcium and magnesium in tap water can accumulate inside the heat exchanger, forming limescale. This scale acts as an insulating barrier, reducing heat transfer, lowering efficiency, and potentially causing damage to internal components.
Flushing, also called descaling, removes these deposits and ensures consistent hot water flow and energy efficiency.

•Standard recommendation: Most manufacturers and experts advise flushing tankless water heaters once every 12 months under average household conditions and moderately soft water.

• Hard water areas: If your water is hard (7-10 grains per gallon), flushing may be needed every six months to prevent rapid scale buildup.

• Very hard water or high usage: In regions with very hard water or homes with high hot water demand, flushing may be required every 4-
6 months.

• Soft or treated water: Flushing can be extended to 18-24 months
if water is soft or treated.

Even if you follow a schedule, you should consider flushing sooner if you notice:
• Inconsistent water temperature or slower heating
• Reduced water flow or pressure
• Rumbling, banging, or unusual noises
• Sudden increase in energy bills
• White, chalky deposits around faucets or showerheads.
