Some plants ask for a lot. Russian Sage isn’t one of them.

Silvery, aromatic stems all season, then airy lavender-blue spikes that bloom for weeks — mid-summer right through fall. Once it’s bare in winter, the pale woody stems stick around too, adding texture when everything else has gone quiet.

Full sun, low water, lean soil. Give it rich soil or too much water and it’ll flop — this is one plant that genuinely does better with a little neglect.

We love using it to soften the edge where hardscape meets planting bed — driveways, patios, pool surrounds.
