This week's Tree ID is a little different. Instead of testing your tree knowledge, we're sharing a special experience from one of our team members and the place that helped inspire a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.
As a California native, I was fortunate enough to visit Yosemite National Park quite a few times in my early childhood. Over time, my family moved away, and I hadn’t been back in almost 30 years. Last week, I finally had the chance to reconnect with the landscape that shaped my appreciation for the natural world.
Being surrounded by the steep granite cliffs, immersed in forests of pine, oak, sequoias, and fir, was a truly special experience. My mom and I got to share new memories together, which made it all the more unforgettable.
I hope you all enjoy these photos from our visit, and from a long trail run I did through the Yosemite backcountry!
