The last part of every tree job is just as important as the first.

Before we head home, we take the time to clean up the property with the same care we brought to the tree itself. That means hauling brush, raking debris, and leaving your yard ready to enjoy again.

Respecting your property isn't an extra service—it's simply part of doing the job right.

Tree ID Tuesday ... on a Wednesday. 😅 Today's Tree ID comes from Tree Care Advisor Sebastien Carpentier.

This is quite a common tree around the Richmond area, you will see it in alleyways and along roadsides or growing up next to fences.

These pictures are of a particularly large specimen, with a nice canopy taper, as a focal point in the yard (which is semi-rare to see). They are quick-growing, non-native trees that boast recognizable, edible fruit. These trees are famous for the speed of their pollen release, and it is the fastest in the plant kingdom. The stamens release their pollen at around 380 miles per hour.

Can you guess this tree?

August 4's answer: Common Smoketree (Cotinus coggygria).

If you've ever met our team, you've probably noticed something.

They genuinely like being out here.

Whether it's climbing, talking trees with a homeowner, or spending the day working beneath a beautiful canopy, this work attracts people who love the outdoors.

We're grateful for a team that brings that passion to work every day—and for the customers who trust us to care for the trees that make our communities so special.

This week's Tree ID is a little different. Instead of testing your tree knowledge, we're sharing a special experience from one of our team members and the place that helped inspire a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.

As a California native, I was fortunate enough to visit Yosemite National Park quite a few times in my early childhood. Over time, my family moved away, and I hadn’t been back in almost 30 years. Last week, I finally had the chance to reconnect with the landscape that shaped my appreciation for the natural world.

Being surrounded by the steep granite cliffs, immersed in forests of pine, oak, sequoias, and fir, was a truly special experience. My mom and I got to share new memories together, which made it all the more unforgettable.

I hope you all enjoy these photos from our visit, and from a long trail run I did through the Yosemite backcountry!

Today's Tree ID comes from Tree Care Advisor Phil Tate.

I found this plant on a new client’s property and had to stop for a moment because it almost didn’t look real. In a typical Richmond landscape, it stood out to me immediately. I don’t see this plant every day. Its round leaves looked very tropical to me. By midsummer, it develops a hazy, airy appearance that makes it unlike anything else nearby.

This beauty traces its roots back to southern Europe and parts of Asia, where it has been admired for centuries. Long before it became a favorite in American landscapes, people used parts of it to make yellow dyes for textiles and leather. Today, it’s planted for its multi-seasonal contributions, and it simply knows how to steal the show.

If you’ve spotted this tree around, you know exactly what I’m talking about. If not, keep your eyes open… and tell me your guess. What do you think this unusual tree is?

Last week's answer: Tulip Poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera).

One of the best parts of our work isn't climbing trees or running equipment.

It's the conversations.

Whether we're talking with homeowners, training arborists, volunteering in the community, or sharing what we've learned about trees, we always come back to the same idea: relationships matter.

Trees connect people in surprising ways. They bring neighbors together, create opportunities to learn, and help us build stronger communities.

We're grateful for every chance we get to share our passion for trees with others and learn from the people who care about them, too.

One of the things we love most about trees is that they bring people together.

A neighborhood gathering under a shade tree. Children exploring the outdoors. Community volunteers planting for future generations. Friends walking beneath a tree-lined street.

Trees improve our communities in ways that are easy to measure—and in ways that are impossible to measure.

At Truetimber, we believe caring for trees and caring for people go hand in hand.

Some things are bigger than trees.

Please help us congratulate our Tree Care Advisor, James Luggen, and his family on welcoming their beautiful baby girl, Willow!

We couldn't help but smile seeing Willow already representing Truetimber in her very first company shirt. While it'll be a few years before she's identifying trees or tagging along on appointments, we'd say she's off to a pretty great start.

At Truetimber, we believe the relationships we build—with our customers, our crews, and our families—are what matter most. Watching our team grow, both professionally and personally, is one of the greatest joys of what we do.

Welcome to the Truetimber family, Willow! 💚
