We received so many amazing nominations for our free exterior paint giveaway, and honestly, I wish we could paint every single one of these veterans’ homes. Every story we heard reminded us how many people in our community could use a little help.
My hope is that this inspires more businesses and neighbors to find ways to give back, donate their time, and serve the veterans who have given so much in service to our country.
Last night, I received a message from a wife who shared a little bit of her husband’s story with me. They have been together since 1998, and living in their home since 2011 with the original paint job still on. her husband enlisted in the Army at just 18 years old, serving for 6 years.
He continued working hard throughout his life, spending around 20 years as a contractor and installing roofs.
He kept working up until this year, when medical complications left him unable to work and made even everyday activities like driving and walking difficult without medical assistance.
As I learned more about their story, I also discovered that his wife is a two-time cancer survivor. 🩷
Honestly, I could hardly sleep last night thinking about all the stories we received and how much some people have been through. It really puts things into perspective and reminds you that sometimes the people who have spent their lives working hard and taking care of others are the ones who could use a helping hand themselves.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who nominated someone, shared our giveaway, and supported this idea. And a special thank-you to Paint Marts for believing in this idea and helping us start what we hope will become a lasting tradition of giving back to our community!

We wish we could give back to every veteran who was nominated, and we hope this giveaway inspires more local businesses or neighbors to come together, donate their time, and show these heroes the same care they have shown our country.
Our veterans have given so much. We believe giving back to them starts right here in our own community. 🇺🇸❤️
For their privacy I did keep there names private and they are more then welcome to share who they are. I did get permission to share a photo.
Stay tuned we are hoping to transform their home before Veterans Day. But we have some gloomy days ahead.
