This sh*t is our nemesis.

Prostrate spurge loves moist soil, so it usually shows up anywhere there’s extra water — around drip emitters/base of plants, along lawn edges, and in areas with sprinkler overspray like this one.

At the Goodman’s, we’re not using glyphosate (Roundup) around the pool area because of the kiddos, so the best method here is good old-fashioned manual warfare.

Our favorite tools:

-a utility knife or flathead screwdriver🔪🪛
-a grocery bag 🛍️
-something to kneel on, because yeah… you’re going to need it 🧎

When the soil is soft and damp, you can stick the blade down by the root, give it a little lift, and it usually pops right out.

And trust us — the quicker you get this stuff out by the root, the better.

These lil fu*kers like most weeds spread like wildfire if you let it go.

So if you don’t want to use chemicals?
Grab some knee pads, a bag, a screwdriver, and get that sh*t out.

Small weeds turn into big headaches fast.
If you need help staying ahead of them, give us a call.

Ficus Indian Laurel vs. Green Hopseed 🌿

At first glance, these two hedges look surprisingly similar. Both have grown into dense, green privacy screens, but up close you can see the difference in leaf shape and texture—Ficus has broader, glossier leaves, while Hopseed has narrower, more elongated foliage.

Swipe through to see what they looked like when we planted them on July 16, 2025. It’s hard to believe these photos were taken less than a year ago.

The growth has been incredible, but it didn’t happen by accident. Proper planting, good soil preparation, consistent irrigation, and ongoing care are what help plants establish quickly and thrive in the Arizona heat --------
Which hedge would you choose?
