4 things to keep in mind when building a deck for kids and pets... 👇

➡️ 1. Stair gates — keeps little ones and curious pups from taking a tumble. We build ours with options to lock. There is also other options that are easy to move through when you’re holding a kid or carrying something.

➡️ 2. Railing style — horizontal cables or rails become a ladder in seconds. Vertical spindles are the way for young kids…harder to grip and climb, genuinely safer for both.

➡️ 3. The deck surface ☀️ — TimberTech PVC stays up to 30°F cooler in direct sun than a lot of competitors. That means bare feet (and paw pads) don’t get fried in July. Lighter decking colors amplify that benefit without sacrificing durability.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE… we’re celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary today 🎉

For those who don’t know us, Tyler and I met in high school. We’ve been together 11+ years now, and little Tyler and Lauren back then would never believe the things we get to build and do together today.

This year has been really REAL… ups and downs, health stuff, challenges that have pushed us. We’re just so grateful to have each other through it all.
