We have finished the staining and love the way sashco log and timber transformation has added an entire new look to this cabin! Brown tone light stain color, with Sashco conceal redwood caulking. I can’t wait to see this finished product!

Fun fact: we have found a baby stick bug on every log home since we have started restorations. First pic 2023, second pic was today!

Now on to the fun stuff! Were using sashco log and timber stain after we apply board defense to preserve the wood, and colorfast to help with even coating and protection!

Progress! After removing the old finish, we are going through to remove all the caulking to prepare it for new caulking. Prep work always takes the longest, but it is the most important!

Question of the Week:
👉 How do I know if my topcoat is still working or if I need to replace it?

Answer:
We recommend checking your topcoat twice a year using the simple water bead test 💧🪵

Here’s how:
✔️ Spray each wall with water
✔️ Watch how the water reacts

If the water sheets off and the stain color DOESN’T change:
✅ Your clear topcoat is still there and doing its job.

If the stain darkens when water hits it:
⚠️ Your clear topcoat has started to weather off and water is making contact with the stain.

What to do next:
1️⃣ Wash the wall with Log Wash
2️⃣ Let it dry completely
3️⃣ Apply another coat of Advance topcoat

A quick test now can help prevent bigger maintenance later!
