Yesterday, I did something millions of moms are doing this time of yearā¦ I packed up my youngest son, drove him to college, helped him get settledā¦and then somehow drove home without him.
Beckett is officially a student at Temple University, where heāll be pursuing Film Arts with dreams of becoming a screen director and writer. š¬
And while I couldnāt be more excited for him and the life heās beginning to build, any parent who has made that drive home knows thereās a whole lot wrapped up in it.
Pride. Excitement. Worry. Memories. And that strange realization that another chapter of your familyās life just ended while a brand-new one began.
Before I was the owner of Tuscarora Custom, I was a mom.
And I still am.
Thatās part of why the words āwoman owned, family fueledā mean so much to me. They arenāt just something we put on our website.
Tuscarora is our family.
Itās Brandon leading our work in the field. Itās our son Trevor learning a trade and working alongside his dad. Itās conversations about jobs around the dinner table. Itās early mornings, long days, big decisions, celebrations, frustrations, and building something together that we hope lasts long beyond us.
Yes, we build with stone, brick, concrete and mortar.
But I think we understand better than most that a home is so much more than what itās built from.
Itās where you raised the kids who are suddenly leaving for college.
Itās the patio where everyone gathers when they come back.
Itās the fireplace theyāll sit around at the holidays.
Itās the backyard where someday there may be grandchildren running around.
