When I was a child, I played with Barbie dolls mostly choosing what clothes they’d wear next. There was one pink gingham evening dress with a halter style cut, had white chiffon sleeves, a tiny white satin collar, and an even tinier black bow at the collar. It was my favorite and I often wished I could make it to fit me. It was years later that it dawned me that I COULD make that dress to fit me and when I decided to learn to design and sew clothes.

Later on, some of the first things I learned to sew were Barbie doll clothes.
