Getting Started!

Landfall Boat Works was founded by Jim Rosenberg, a veteran yacht captain and project manager.

About the time he was eight years old, Jim began Giant Tuna fishing on Cape Cod with his father. On one of his first trips, his father described how to spot a Bluefin Tuna and offered up a sizable $20 if they were able to catch the fish that Jim might spot. By nightfall, they had landed a 710 lb Bluefin and Jim had $20 to deposit into his savings account. Thereafter, Jim’s interests rarely strayed from fishing and boating. By the time he graduated from college, he had secured a job as a captain on a private sport fish yacht and was traveling to exotic locales in pursuit of billfish. During this time and afterwards, Jim developed a passion for not just being on the water, but the details that went into boat construction. He has had the good fortune to work in several boat shops and for two well known, pedigree custom boat builders. Jim’s days spent on fishing boats were succeeded by a career captaining and managing refits on large motor yachts. Always up for a challenge, Jim has worked as a captain on charter yachts from a classic canoe stern Feadship to custom motor yachts up to 50 meters. After managing the new build of a complex 45 meter motor yacht, Jim decided to revisit the smaller boat construction that has always been a mainstay for him. With the unique capabilities as a craftsman working directly on the shop floor, and as an experienced project manager, Jim is able to marry the practical eye for detail and the organizational requirements of effective boatbuilding. Recognizing that there are boat owners who share his passion for perfection, Jim decided to make Landfall a unique fabricator of bespoke, extraordinary craft that share the same level of quality and beauty typically sought after in the larger yacht market. Whether it is an on deck tender, tow-behind, or desire for a truly unique boat that makes a passionate boater’s heart skip a beat, Landfall is committed to bringing their client’s dream boat to reality.
