Fall is here. Are you ready?
Water damage in October and November isn't random. It happens when gutters are clogged, pipes aren't insulated, sump pumps fail, and homeowners didn't prepare.
Here's your fall prep checklist:
Clean your gutters. Leaves back up water. Get it done this weekend.
Know where your main water shutoff is. Practice turning it off. You need to do this in under 30 seconds if a pipe bursts.
Test your sump pump. Pour water in. Does it kick on? If not, fix it before the rain hits.
Take photos of your belongings. Document what you own. You need this for insurance if water damage happens.
Know your insurance coverage. Does your policy cover water backup? Does it cover flooding? Know the difference. Most homeowner policies don't cover flooding.
Winterize outdoor faucets. Drain lines. Frozen outdoor faucets mean burst interior pipes.
Do these six things this weekend. Takes maybe an hour total.
If water damage happens anyway, call us same-day or ASAP.
