I usually try to get some steps in after lunch and it's fun to explore different paths because and also because it's a great way to go landscape shopping! It's one of my guilty pleasures and I love getting inspiration for my own yard 😁

Also, did you know that you do better work in the afternoon when you take a break away from your desk around lunchtime?

We had the pleasure of having some students and faculty from Bryan High School come visit during the latest Plattsmouth Garden Club-PGC meeting.

They gave an awesome presentation about their high school program and how getting involved in the Ag program will be beneficial to their desired college majors and future career paths cosmetology, marketing, traditional Ag, and more.

I loved hearing about the different projects they have taken on over the years like beautification projects on campus (open to the public when school is not in session), creating a flower design business by offering flower bouquet CSAs to the teachers, and of course their that they have each year with the plants they grow in their school greenhouse! Is it obvious that I might be a little green with envy?!

In the last photo, you can see a list of their upcoming events. This year they hosted the Nebraska Monarchs giveaway and plan to do so next year too. That is always a great event; I highly recommend!

Bryan High School thank you for your time! I would love to see something like this take shape at high school! ❀️

Trying to see if I can propagate this Chinese Evergreen plant that no longer is bringing me joy.

I believe I can use the cut portion and put it in water to create a new plant. The remaining piece may sprout new branches or leaves, like a dragon plant would.

Cross your fingers! 🀞🏻

I can't believe we got some LUFFAS! We still have some time left in the growing season, even though it's not much.

I want to leave this one and see if it will get big enough to make a sponge! 🧽

I may end up harvesting the others to eat. I read that they are kind of like a mix between zucchini and okra. If you have any good recipes, send them my way! πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ³

Sara Parker Design talks about creating rituals for your home, especially as the seasons change and I think one ritual that I am loving, no matter the season, is to have fresh flowers (that I grew in my very own back yard!! 🀩).

It really does feel special to have the candles lit, the big lights turned off, the sound of our fall playlist and the scent of our fall simmer pot lightly drifting throughout the house.

The fresh flowers are the icing on the top! This is another bouquet from those three lisianthus plants from Wood Barn Farm - Angela, I'm going to need to buy some more of those next year! I also have some purple basil, dried bee balm seed heads (also from Wood barn Farm), and big blue stem.

Here are the results of the drawings for the prizes we had during the Flower Show & Plant Sale. Drumroll πŸ₯, please...
Congrats to two of our newest Plattsmouth Garden Club-PGC members, Amy & Kylie!! Welcome, we are SO glad to have you! β™₯️

Also, congratulations to Merri Breitkreutz on your honey! That was so generous of Yolanda Jasso to donate that for our raffle.

P.S. if you missed out on the plant sale last weekend, we will be at the Plattsmouth Community Market this weekend. It's not too late to grab some plants!

Got a two-for-one garden job done after all this rain! Weeded my garden AND got a jump start on my inventory of grass seedlings for my spring plant sale 🌾

I'll be overwintering these in my kitchen garden beds and can divide up for next year. If they don't survive, I'm only out my sweat equity πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

If you're in the market for some , I'm your girl!

Well, folks. It's a wrap on the Plattsmouth Garden Club-PGC 2026 Flower Show & Plant Sale!

What a fun whirlwind of a weekend! Thank you to everyone who entered the show - it was fun to catch a glimpse into what everyone is growing. We appreciate you taking the time to get involved. And congratulations to all of the contestants that placed!!

Most importantly, THANK YOU to all the garden club members who helped make this event come to life!! We truly could not have done it without all of your help, your enthusiasm, and your hard work! It is really something special to see all of your efforts come to life. I am so grateful to be part of such a fantastic group of garden friends β™₯️

I couldn't help myself - just so many pretty things to look at and the weather felt like autumn πŸ‚ I enjoyed the peace & quiet outside before kicking off our busy day.

The crisp air and the cool, gentle breeze was refreshing. It's sad to think that the garden will be going to sleep soon, but until then, I'm soaking up the pleasant weather.

We had so much fun walking in the parade this year! ✨

We were passing out coupons for a discount on the plant sale, so if you got one, be sure to take advantage before they sell out! All proceeds go back to help support the work of Plattsmouth Garden Club-PGC.

There ended up being SO many entries for the flower show - be sure to stop by and see how the competition played out! Our lisianthus placed 3rd! πŸ₯‰

P.S. don't forget about the honey raffle 🍯 and the door prize drawings!!
