Rejoice! Porch season has arrived again, so here’s a look at this lovely clear vertical grain Douglas fir renovation in Stanton Heights.

Is there anything better than a Pittsburgh porch sit (or swing)? 🍃

(No, no there is not.)

One palette. Two wildly different approaches.

Black, white, and natural wood tones work beautifully together to create spaces that strike a balance: warm yet elevated, welcoming yet modern. It’s a classic palette choice offering a wide world of possibilities.

Which one suits your aesthetic?

We collaborated with QUARTER design studioto transform this previously dark and secluded kitchen into a sunny and expansive space with breathtaking views of the Shadyside neighborhood and greater East End basin.

The extra-large island boasts an attached powder coated steel-base and six quarter white oak rift-sawn plank breakfast table, detailed and fabricated by Justin George of EH. The result is a kitchen that does exactly what it’s meant to do: it holds space. For gatherings with family and friends, late night chats, chaotic holiday cooking, and early morning coffee musings.

Our kitchens are the place where we create connection, from the mundane to the memorable. Is your kitchen holding space for you?

Art display casework for the Sky Lobby connecting UPMC Presbyterian to their new bed tower. At over 100” long each, these beauties were a bit of a beast to move, but they’re now safely delivered to their forever home.

Featuring integrated desiccant and dimmable lighting, we’re excited to see the rotating exhibitions housed here, and we’re always grateful for the opportunity to bring art into our city spaces.

Shout out to our fabrication department for the great work on this project!

Small detail of a big project.

The full scope included a two-story addition, a full kitchen and master bath renovation, the reimagining of a basement staircase, a brand new deck, and more.

Thanks to the design-forward mindset of these clients, we were able to take a flexible approach and explore unexpected solutions as they presented themselves. Whether we were talking about structural changes to the home or door hardware, every decision was a careful and considered effort. We truly value working with individuals who are excited to collaborate with us like this!

Throwback to one of our earliest flagship projects: an oceanfront new build.

The Block Island House shaped EngineHouse as a company. It was a project that demanded the highest craftsmanship and care, with each material and detail chosen with an eye toward longevity and the ability to stand up to the harsh island climate.

It's a spare reinterpretation of coastal New England architecture that blends traditional materials with modern design and engages the surrounding landscape in a continuous dialogue.

Happy Earth Day! And speaking of sustainability, it just so happens that these beauties began their restoration journey today. Instead of ending up in a landfill, they will be stripped, refinished, and reinstalled as we work to return the second and third floor space of this Victorian home to it's original splendor.

Reuse, recycle, restore, and reinvest in our built environment whenever you can! It's not always easy but it IS better for our planet.

A quaint stand-alone garden shed nestled into a Regent Square backyard. It's a not-so-typical answer to the very typical problem of, "Where do I store this?"

Not pictured is the solar carport that frames one garden wall, seamlessly merging form and function.

We’re inching toward porch season one day at a time and we are so ready for it.

This thermally-modified Kebony deck created a long-lasting, multi-functional space for our clients to lounge, dine, entertain, and play with easy access to and from the kitchen and the yard beyond.
