DO NOT SEAL THE ENTRANCE TO A "BEE" (YELLOWJACKET) NEST!!! We haven't posted this warning in a while and then boom! We get a call for yellowjackets in a home, and lo and behold when we arrive and try to locate the outside entry point are told that the homeowner sealed the entrance two days earlier.
Yellowjacket populations are hovering around one thousand members per nest right now, and will climb to several thousand as the season continues. Sealing the nest entrance creates a dangerous situation for the people living in the home. It also creates a very dangerous situation for the tech that has to remove the silicone from the entrance, knowing that a swarm of angry yellowjackets will be pouring out and attacking.
Please share this post, it may save someone from being stung by a yellowjacket in their bedroom! As always, Pest Patrol Pittsburgh can help with any stinging insect needs this season!
