That’s one way to make a hidden leak known… 😬

All of that bubbling paint was caused by a leaking copper pipe hiding above it. We opened things up, found the culprit, and replaced the damaged section before the leak could cause even more trouble. Now just a quick drywall repair and you’d never know there was damage before!

Noticed a leaking pipe in your basement? It’s always better to take care of it before it has the chance to cause more damage.

For this repair, our team removed the leaking section (shown where the red temporary fix is) and replaced it with new copper and secure fittings. A relatively simple fix now can help prevent water damage, mold, and bigger repairs later on.

Before -> After 🔧

This customer wanted to upgrade their drainage pipe, and once we took a look under the sink it was clear why. These flexible, accordion style pipes are great for a short term solution, but used long term, grease, residue, food, and much more can build up in the plastic folds of the pipe. This creates odors, slow drainage, and clogs much easier than a smooth and direct PVC drainage line.

You’d be surprised what can make its way into a water heater!

Leaves, dirt and other debris can get pulled in through a water heater’s air intake. If enough builds up, it can restrict airflow and cause issues with your hot water, send error codes, or worst case - even shut down the system.

“Why is there rust on my water heater?” 🤔

Rust and corrosion around water heater connections isn’t uncommon but also isn’t worth ignoring! Corrosion can weaken fittings over time and eventually lead to bigger problems like a leak that takes over your basement. If you notice rust or moisture coming from your water heater, it’s a good idea to have it inspected before it turns into a bigger (and more expensive) problem.

Unfortunately, flooded basements aren’t a rarity here in Pittsburgh. Between heavy rain, aging homes & roads, and our hilly terrain, it doesn’t take much for water to find its way where it doesn’t belong.

After a big storm, some things to keep an eye out for are:
musty or damp odors | water stains on walls or floors | a sump pump that’s running constantly (or not at all) | damp boxes in storage

Catching these warning signs early can give you a clue that water is getting into your space & help prevent a much bigger headache down the road. And whether it’s a big or small problem, we are here to help if you need us 💧
