What does it REALLY take to keep a garbage truck on the road? 👀

Spoiler alert: A LOT. 😂💸

When you see one of our Waste To Geaux trucks rolling through your neighborhood, there’s a whole lot happening behind the scenes to keep it there.

⛽ Fuel — and LOTS of it
🛞 Tires that take a beating from long routes and back roads
🔧 Routine maintenance & oil changes
⚙️ Parts, repairs & unexpected breakdowns
🧼 Cleaning and upkeep
👨‍🔧 And plenty of time spent making sure everything is safe and ready for the next route!

Garbage trucks work HARD. They’re constantly stopping, starting, turning, loading and traveling miles and miles every week — and Louisiana roads definitely don’t make it any easier. 😂

Keeping our trucks running is one of the biggest parts of keeping Waste To Geaux running.

We had a great response to our last hiring post, and as we continue to grow, we’re looking to add more dependable, hardworking people to the Waste To Geaux team! 💪♻️

🗑️ Position Details:
• Full time hours
• Start early morning and finish in the afternoon
• Local routes — home every day
• Mondays AND weekends off!
• Physical, outdoor work

✅ We’re looking for someone who is dependable, punctual, hardworking, and ready to work.

💰 Pay based on experience.

The schedule still leaves plenty of time for family, mowing lawns, running a side business, or doing your own thing outside of work!

Ever wonder what happens AFTER we pick up your trash? 👀

Trash day may end for you when those bags disappear, but for our crew, there’s still plenty of work left to do! From finishing the route, hauling everything to the proper disposal facility, unloading, fueling up, checking equipment, and getting everything ready to do it all over again. There’s a whole lot that happens behind the scenes.

Running a garbage company is definitely more than just driving a truck. 😂💪

⚠️ FIRE HAZARD WARNING ⚠️

We have addressed this before, but unfortunately it has happened again.

Do NOT place fire hazard materials in your household trash. This includes items such as used oil, propane tanks, lithium batteries, vehicle batteries, rechargeable batteries, fireworks, hot ashes, or any other flammable or hazardous materials.

Yesterday, someone threw away a child’s electric ride-on vehicle with the battery still inside, causing the trash to catch fire.

Thankfully, no one was injured, but this could have been much worse. We could have lost an entire garbage truck, and our employees’ safety was put at risk.

If hazardous materials continue to be placed in the trash, we may be forced to refuse collection until they are removed.

Please help us keep our employees, equipment, and community safe by disposing of these items properly.

🇺🇸 Holiday Office Notice: Our office is closed today in observance of Independence Day. All trash routes are running as normal and will be picked up on their regular schedule. If you leave us a message, we’ll respond as soon as we return.

🇺🇸 Today we celebrate more than fireworks and cookouts. We celebrate the courage, sacrifice, and freedom that so many brave men and women fought to protect. Because of them, we have the privilege to raise our families, build our businesses, and live in the greatest country in the world.

This Independence Day, may we never take those freedoms for granted. Take a moment to remember those who gave everything so we can enjoy the life we have today.

One of our trucks is currently stuck in a ditch, and we’re waiting on a wrecker. If you’re on our Deville route, your pickup may be delayed today.

Please keep your trash out, we’ll resume pickups as soon as the truck is recovered. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
