We’re roughing in a basement that used to be unfinished and they’re getting it finished out. Insulation and plastic were already up so we had to cut some plastic and pull insulation to get our wires in. Just drilling and pulling and making sure everything is nice and stable.

Plans said 72, he laid out 72.5. Why?
Drywall.
If you don't look at the plans and account for it during layout, the island lands wrong in the finished house. Half inch now saves you a headache later.

Pull felt way too light. No tension at all.

Pulled it out and it was cut clean inside the pipe. That's why this run had no power.😂

His first time laying out a house.

Proper training matters. The journeyman stayed back instead of going to hang lights so nothing gets missed. Door swing, code, how the finished house will look. It's all decided during layout.

Roughing in a basement. Marking out switches, laying out plugs, hammer flip, hanging boxes, running wire clean, and getting material back to the van.
Clean rough-in from the start makes the finish easy.

The guys are getting some can lights hung up and making sure they're sitting right.
We feel like cans are just easier and faster to wire up, and when we have to swap one later we don't have to worry about insulation falling down into the house.
We use wafers too, but cans have their perks. What are you guys running more of these days?

Little things separate a good rough-in from a callback.
Think about door swing before you place that receptacle, and always check what's on the other side before you drive a staple.
It's the small habits that keep a house clean and safe.

Negative temps, snow on the ground, pulling through pipe.
It's easy to be miserable in this weather. Takes a good journeyman to keep the whole crew fired up and energetic.
That's real leadership on a job site.
