One of our patios, ready for fall 🍂

Here’s how to keep yours looking this good:

Don’t let leaves sit on your pavers. Wet leaves that pile up can leave stains and hold moisture against the surface. A quick sweep or blow every week or two through November keeps your patio looking its best heading into winter.

🍂 September is an important month in the Maryland landscape.

Fall isn't just the end of the gardening season—it's also a great time to prepare your landscape for what's ahead.

The University of Maryland Extension put together a helpful list of September gardening tips specifically for Maryland homeowners, including fall planting, lawn care, pollinator-friendly practices and preparing your landscape for cooler weather.

We thought this was worth sharing with our fellow Maryland gardeners and homeowners. 🌿

What are you working on in your yard this fall?

Public pool season may be over—but your pool season doesn’t have to be.

Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer in Baltimore, and with local pools closing for the season, it’s a good reminder of one of the best parts of having a pool at home:

You decide when pool season ends.

With the right design, heating and surrounding outdoor space, your backyard can be enjoyed well beyond Labor Day—and there’s no better time to start planning for next summer.

At Lerch Brothers, we design and build more than pools. We create complete outdoor environments, from custom pools and patios to stonework, landscaping and outdoor living spaces—all designed to feel like a natural extension of your home.

If a pool is part of your plans for 2027, now is the time to start the conversation.

Fireplace or fire pit—which would you choose? 🔥

Both can completely change the way you use your outdoor space, but they create very different experiences.

An outdoor fireplace creates a defined architectural focal point and a more intimate gathering space, while a fire pit offers open seating and encourages conversation from every side.

As cooler Baltimore evenings approach, now is a great time to start thinking about how you'd like to enjoy your backyard this fall—and beyond.

So, which are you choosing: FIREPLACE or FIRE PIT? 👇
