Another strained socket/detached meter pan repair. Check the top meter jaws being pulled over to the left from the settling. The customer finally got their smart meter from First Energy. The underground conduit was roughed in center of the cable going to the house. They just bowed it over to make it work. Flash forward 38 years and we had no option but to offset the conduit left. This one was a bit of a head scratcher, breaker tripping but no continuity from hot to ground or neutral. Luckily I looked over and saw that burn mark and there was the issue. When they clipped the wire mold cover on 20-30 years ago it pinched the wire, but for some reason it held until this day. My guess is it got kicked. Replaced the 12 THHN and we were all good.
