The Suitcase Wall: Help Us Collect Its Story 🧳
In 2013–2014, we had the privilege of designing and building the Doylestown Inn Lobby and The Hattery Stove & Still.
One of the most memorable elements of the project is the towering suitcase wall in the Inn’s lobby. The idea came to Shannon in her sleep one night, and she woke up with a clear vision of what it could become. Shannon and Daryl then spent months sourcing vintage suitcases from flea markets, estate sales, and the Brimfield Antique Flea Market in Massachusetts. Daryl helped develop the construction and bring Shannon’s vision to life. It was quite an adventure—and truly a labor of love.
More than a decade later, the suitcase wall has become a beloved work of art and a popular photo backdrop. We see photographs and artwork featuring the wall all over the internet, and we recently spotted a photograph of it displayed as artwork at Doylestown Hospital!
Every time we visit the Inn, we see brides, wedding parties, families, friends, and visitors stopping to take pictures in front of it. Now, together with the Doylestown Inn and The Hattery Stove & Still, we would love to collect those photographs and the memories behind them.
Have you taken a picture in front of the suitcase wall? Please share it in the comments or send it to us in a private message. Wedding photographs, family gatherings, reunions, celebrations, and everyday snapshots—we would love to see them all!
Please include the approximate year and a few words about the occasion. With your permission, selected photographs may be included in an upcoming article and a special feature on our website celebrating Shannon’s vision and the many memories created in front of this very special wall.
Please share this post and help us spread the word! 🗣️
