I have a confession to make…

In all the years I’ve been painting, I’ve created surprisingly few landscapes.

This one isn’t even my idea. It’s an assignment from Milan Art Institute.

I expected to treat it like homework.

Instead, I can’t stop thinking about it.

There’s something about building layers of distant mountains, carving a river through a valley, and watching a place slowly appear that feels completely different from painting my usual subjects.

It made me realize something important.

Sometimes we become so comfortable with the things we’re known for that we stop exploring the things we haven’t tried.

Apparently, I should have been painting more landscapes.
