Your HVAC system might be running perfectly — and still failing to keep your building comfortable. Often the reason isn't the equipment. It's the airflow.
Here's why it matters:
🌬️ Uneven temperatures
Poor airflow means some areas of your building are overcooled while others stay warm. Your system works harder trying to compensate — and never quite gets there.
⚡ Higher energy consumption
When air can't move freely through the system, the blower motor strains to maintain pressure. That extra effort shows up directly on your energy bill.
⚙️ Premature equipment wear
Restricted airflow causes heat to build up inside the unit. Over time, that extra heat stress shortens the life of the compressor, heat exchanger, and other critical components.
💧 Humidity and air quality issues
Proper airflow is what allows your system to dehumidify effectively. Without it, moisture builds up — creating conditions for mold growth and poor indoor air quality.
🔧 Common causes we find in the field:
Dirty or clogged filters, blocked return grilles, disconnected or undersized ductwork, incorrectly positioned dampers, and blower belts that have worn and slipped.
If your space has hot and cold spots, unusual humidity, or a system that just never seems to keep up — airflow is usually the first place to look.

What started as a duct heater installation turned into a much bigger project.

During the initial phase, our team discovered that the existing VAV boxes were cooling-only and couldn't support the new heating equipment. To provide a long-term solution, we coordinated with mall management and Siemens to evaluate available options and determine the best path forward.

The project ultimately involved replacing the existing VAV boxes with new units capable of supporting two-stage electric heat and integrating them into the existing building control network.

Once installation was complete, we worked alongside Siemens to commission the system and perform comprehensive heating and cooling tests to verify proper operation.

The result: two new duct heaters fully operational, integrated controls, and a system ready to perform as intended. 🔧❄️

Projects like this highlight the importance of coordination, planning, and technical expertise when upgrading commercial HVAC systems.

Service call at a pet supply retail store in Willow Grove, PA — two rooftop units not heating, both showing a gas valve error code. Store temps had dropped to the mid-60s.
Arrived and found no active alarms on one unit — but stored alarm history showed the same fault from a week prior. Reset both units and got them running. Removed and cleaned the flame sensors on the right side burner set of both units.
⚠️ Temporary fix in place — both units running, but ignition modules, ignitors and flame sensors need replacement on both units to properly resolve the issue.
Parts ordered. Return trip scheduled.

When a store is relying on portable fans to stay comfortable, it's time to find the real problem.

At a retail location in New Jersey, employees reported uncomfortable temperatures and multiple fans running throughout the store just to keep air moving.

After troubleshooting, our technician found that two rooftop units were extremely low on refrigerant and not cooling properly. We also identified a failed economizer damper motor on one of the units, preventing proper operation.

A proposal has been provided for leak search, repair, refrigerant recharge, and replacement of the faulty damper motor.

This is a great example of why a "no cooling" complaint often requires a full system diagnosis — there can be more than one issue affecting comfort and performance. ❄️

Sometimes the problem isn't a failed part — it's the system protecting itself.

At a commercial location, the customer reported that the AC had stopped blowing air. After troubleshooting RTU #1, we found the unit had gone into a safety lockout.

Our technician checked the system, verified all safeties, reset the lockout, and tested the unit both at the thermostat and directly at the equipment.

The result? No repairs were needed — the system was restored and is now operating properly ❄️

Not every HVAC call ends with a part replacement. Sometimes the right diagnosis is all it takes.

Second opinion call at a pet supply retail store in Edison, NJ — the grooming salon unit was showing a temperature complaint and an error code.

Inspected the unit thoroughly. No mechanical issues found — no active alarms, no faults in the board history, filters clean.

So we kept looking.

🔍 What we actually found:
The space temperature sensor for the grooming salon is located right next to the entrance door. Before store hours, the main entrance doors were being left open during early grooming drop-offs — sending cold air directly across the sensor.

The unit was reading temps below heating setpoint and running heat in response. By the time the store opened and doors returned to normal operation, the salon had already overheated. It then took most of the day for the temperature to normalize — because the sensor was still catching airflow every time the salon door opened and closed throughout the day.

The unit wasn't the problem. Sensor placement was.

📋 Recommendat Relocate the space temp sensor to the opposite wall of the grooming salon — away from door airflow — for accurate temperature readings and proper system response.

This is exactly the kind of issue that gets misdiagnosed as a mechanical failure. Sometimes the most valuable thing a technician can do is take the time to understand how the space actually operates.

Service call at a supply retail store in Mount Laurel, NJ — one of the rooftop units wasn't responding to heating calls. Discharge air was reading 66°F when it should have been much higher.
Pulled the unit and found error code 57 on the board — traced it to a pressure switch not functioning properly.
🔍 Diagnosed the root cause — pressure switch failure affecting ignition sequence
⚠️ Also flagged flame sensor and igniter for replacement while the unit is being serviced
Quote submitted for all three components.
