It's been a hot minute.

Almost done with the downstairs renovation, then I'll be allowed back into the shop. But along the way, some new tools were required (never let a good excuse go by to buy new tools).

I've got some really cool projects I've been waiting to do using the Kreg Edge which was just released. First will be the benches for shoes in the mud room and toy storage for the grandkids.

Here are the steps that this 3D carve went through. It went through a total of 4 roughing passes where it removed a 1/4" of material in each pass, which took over an hour to do. It then goes to a finish pass, which in this case took over 10hrs, with the bit taking off 1/64" in each pass. A little work on the table saw to remove the outsides, a quick hit with the angle grinder with a plastic abrasive wheel, some Danish oil, and voila!, a cool piece of art ready to hang on the wall with the keyhole on the back of the piece.

A going away/house warming gift. Started as 1.5" thick walnut. The finished piece is 15"x15" finished with Danish oil....

A 3D carve made from cherry for a birthday gift for my biggest supporter. Wish I could have made a video of this whole process, but I don't think you want to watch it for 4 hours (but it is hard to walk away from and not watch the machine at work).
