Here are the steps that this 3D carve went through. It went through a total of 4 roughing passes where it removed a 1/4" of material in each pass, which took over an hour to do. It then goes to a finish pass, which in this case took over 10hrs, with the bit taking off 1/64" in each pass. A little work on the table saw to remove the outsides, a quick hit with the angle grinder with a plastic abrasive wheel, some Danish oil, and voila!, a cool piece of art ready to hang on the wall with the keyhole on the back of the piece.

A 3D carve made from cherry for a birthday gift for my biggest supporter. Wish I could have made a video of this whole process, but I don't think you want to watch it for 4 hours (but it is hard to walk away from and not watch the machine at work).

Literally watching glue dry today. I've seen slate coasters and wanted to try. These are 4"x4" and turned out well. Quick and easy to do. Are they giving you an idea? Let me know.

It had to happen sooner or later. Learning the intricacies of the 3D carve. This was my first try, and now doing the same one that is 2x bigger, and even longer to do the carve. This will be going to a retired Master Chief Petty Officer when finished.

Next tool in the arsenal. I actually already had a router table, but it needed an upgrade and this gives me more storage space in the shop. Birch plywood trimmed in walnut sealed with Danish oil.

Can't wait to see this planed. Any guesses?

This was a cool, quick little project for a young man, that loves him some T Rex, for his bedroom. Small little shelf to put a book or small knock knack or 2 on. Just for reference, it's 32in long.

First project in the finished shop, and it was so nice being warm, having space and everything in its place.
