This customer had grout joint cracking on a section of the kitchen floor. Instead of doing a normal patch we decided to go with an inlay pattern to add a little extra to the space.

Almost wrapped up on this job. Floor was poured with self leveler to give these 4’x8” plank tiles a flat surface to sit on which is super important with long planks to ensure a solid bond. The first layout was full tile at the door but that left a 1” piece at the curb of the shower. Changed the layout to splitting the length between the shower curb and door to ensure good sizes pieces and no slivers all around the room. A proper layout is just as important as how you lay the tile. From the prep, the set and the layout all the details matter. It’s what you pay for so it’s what you deserve.

It’s always important to have flat and plum walls and that’s especially true when installing large format tiles. All walls were shimmed to give these 4’x2’ tiles a flat wall helping to eliminate lippage between tiles and ensure full contact across the back of the tile for a strong bond. After going through all the tiles and matching up the veins I made a template to give the customer a visual of how the wall will look as wells as creating precise cut lines ensuring a proper wrap around the corners.
