๐Ÿ›‘ MYTH: "My home is on a crawl space, so I don't have to worry about radon."

Think again. Homes on crawl spaces CAN have high radon levels.

In fact, standard crawl spaces often provide a direct, uninhibited pathway for toxic soil gases to enter your living areas.

Take a look at how radon interacts with these 3 common setups:

1. Exposed Dirt Crawl Space: Unsealed earth allows for completely unrestricted gas migration. Without a physical barrier, radon moves freely from the soil directly upward into your floors.

2. Vented Crawl Space: Ventilation alone is highly insufficient. The natural "stack effect" of warm air rising through your home actively draws gas up from the soil, completely bypassing standard foundation vents.

3. V***r Barrier / Retarder: Gas can easily pass directly through common plastic barriers. Typical installations are simply "loose-laid" on the dirt. Because they are not hermetically sealed to walls and support pillars, radon flows right around the edges and through the seams.

The only way to know your risk is to test. Regardless of your foundation type, testing is the first step to keeping your indoor air safe.

โœ… THE FACT: The EPA Action Level is 4.0 pCi/L, but there is no truly safe level of radon.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) strongly recommends fixing your home if levels reach or exceed 4.0 pCi/L. However, because radon is a radioactive gas, the EPA also advises considering mitigation if your test results fall between 2.0 pCi/L and 4.0 pCi/L.

The Goal: Lower your indoor radon levels as close to the outdoor average (about 0.4 pCi/L) as possible.

The Action: If you have never tested or it has been more than 2 years since your last test, it is time to check your levels.

๐Ÿ  Think itโ€™s "too late" to fix radon in your long-term home? Think again!

โŒ MYTH: Iโ€™ve lived in this house for 20 years, so itโ€™s too late to matter.
โœ… FACT: Reducing radon levels now significantly reduces your future risk of lung cancer.

Radon exposure is a leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. It does not matter how long you have lived in your home. Lowering levels today immediately protects your health for years to come.

Testing is fast, simple, and affordable. Protect your family and get peace of mind.
