A lot of you may already know that about four years ago I lost everything—my home, my stability, and even custody of my children. I found myself in a place I never imagined I’d be: homeless and searching for direction.

During that time, I began seeking spiritual clarity and confirmation that there was still a purpose for my life. Before we even walked through the doors of a church one day, my wife asked me why we were there. I didn’t have a perfect answer—I just knew I needed something real.

When we arrived, the greeter said something I’ll never forget: “If you’re looking for confirmation, you came to the right place.” We sat through a powerful service, and by the end of it I was on my knees at the altar while the preacher prayed over me. At the time, I don’t think anyone there realized how deeply that moment would impact the rest of my life.

That day became a turning point. It gave me strength, direction, and the will to rebuild everything I had lost.

Fast forward four years later—by God’s grace—we’ve been restored in ways we once only dreamed about. We have our children back in our lives, stability in our home, and a successful roofing business that I never take for granted.

About two weeks ago, I came across a church with a tarp covering part of its roof. Something in me immediately said I wanted to help, so I made the decision to replace it free of charge. What started as a simple act of service turned into a full roof replacement, made possible through donations. My crew was paid for their work, but I did not take any profit from the job.

Only after completing it did I learn that it was a women’s rehabilitation center connected to the very same church that had spoken life into me four years ago.

This isn’t a post about pride or recognition for a free roof. It’s about something much deeper.

It’s about how God used that church to change my life when I had nothing left… and how, without even realizing it, I was given the opportunity to give back to them in their time of need.

Just a few weeks before that, I had prayed for confirmation that I was exactly where I was supposed to be in the roofing industry. Crossing paths with that project felt like the answer I had been waiting for.

To me, that wasn’t coincidence—it was confirmation.
