Don’t throw away your used coffee grounds! ☕

Used coffee grounds can be a great natural boost for your lawn and garden. They add organic matter to the soil, help improve moisture retention, and feed beneficial microbes that keep your soil healthy. Some insects and pests also tend to avoid areas where coffee grounds are spread. Just remember spread them lightly and water them in so they can break down properly. And while they may help deter some pests, coffee grounds are not a replacement for proper insecticide when dealing with real infestations. It’s a simple way to recycle and give your lawn a little extra love!

🚨 FREE INFORMATION

I’ve had several people reach out lately asking about grass burrs (aka sticker burrs) and whether pre-emergent helps. The answer is yes, it helps but it’s not a one-time fix. Grass burrs are tough. The seeds can live in your soil for 2–3 years, which means it takes a process and consistency to get the majority of them under control. If you plan on applying pre-emergent one time and expecting the problem to disappear, you’re likely going to be disappointed. Think of it like going to the doctor, getting medication, and only taking it once it might help a little, but it won’t solve the issue. Pre-emergent works best when applied on a schedule and combined with proper lawn care and spot treatments. Over time, that’s what really reduces the problem.

🚨 🌧️ Rain is in the forecast for this Saturday; that means it’s GO TIME for pre-emergent applications‼️ This has been an unusual start to spring. Soil temperatures are already in the 60s, and weeds are beginning to germinate. If you wait much longer, you’ll miss your window and be battling weeds all summer. Remember: pre-emergent granules need water to activate and release the protection they carry. That can come from Mother Nature with rainfall, or from your sprinkler system if rain doesn’t arrive. If you want a cleaner, healthier lawn this season, follow and we will try to guide you this season.
