Pumpkin spice is back. Apples are being picked and autumn is approaching faster then we would care to admit. I’m sure most of you have seen the article saying they found a new tick in Maine. Just what we need right?! With temps getting cooler and autimn on the way, some good preventive measures for ticks include: wearing bright colored clothes, long pants/long sleeve shirts, tucking pants into socks, treating clothes with permethrin, using DEET or picaridin for your skin, keeping lawns short, removing leaf litter from common areas. If you find yourself in a tick prone habitat bathing promptly when done and tumble drying clothes on high heat for at least 10 minutes.

Thankfully we just got some much needed rain. It’s crazy how we went from rain every weekend for 13 weeks to having no rain at all. With that in mind we are needing to skip mowing here and there so the grass doesn’t get stressed. Sadly I don’t have any before photos but this is a recent(put down seed on June 2) loam/seed job. We loamed over a trench dug by electricians, put down grass seed and hay. A month later and the grass is coming in great.
