Uncle Vic's Workshop

Sad to say it, but all good things must come to an end.

The wife and I have been looking for a home for quite some time now and we have finally bought a house, but in another state. Thus, Uncle Vic's workshop will be closing his doors in Orr, Minnesota.

I have sent out my closing letters with my thank yous and regrets.
I have shaking hands and received compliments and gifts.

I really do have the best clients ever.

Good morning !

As always spring does not fail to deliver it's share of surprises.

For once in several years I have all the equipment ready to go on time, but mow two days and the brand new clutch (last July August) falls off of my machine... In the middle of a client's lawn.

The clutch arrived last night, 3 days down and we're ready to go again.

It's mowing season again.
So that means I'm done turning wrenches for a spell and I'm going to be visiting some people's lawns.

I have room for one or two lawns on my schedule yet.

Every year it seems I lose at least one client. Now this may be due to them passing away, being hospitalized, selling of property or what ever, but I have honestly only lost one client due to performance, or lack of. However, that client called me back after a year or two and asked to be included on my list again.

She said, "I thought I was getting a deal, but no one takes care of a lawn like you do Vic". No kidding :) I was humbled and honored.

Even though I lose a client or two each year, God in Heaven sees fit to make sure that I get another two or three to add. So each year my little business expands just a tiny bit.

Well, not doing much mowing.

The past two days I've been working on a 2010 Kia Soul changing belts.

This is a cold burn.
The result of working outside repeatedly shoving my hand down into the engine bay working in extremely tight spaces bare handed when it's neg. 9° and the wind chill was around -23°

I'm no expert, but I'm guessing this boy is huge.
That's a full sized G***k !

On this property it's not unusual to see wildlife.
Deer are common, bear s**t too, but wolves I've not seen on this particular property.

They can get quite big up here.

He Clears Trails Fast With Zero-Turn “Blowdozer”

Bob O’Neil clears his local school’s mile-long cross-country running trail with what he calls his “Blowdozer”, a Husqvarna zero-turn mower equipped with a pair of Stihl backpack leaf blowers.

“In the fall it used to take me 4 to 6 hrs. to walk the trail with a backpack blower,” says O’Neil, an art teacher and former cross-country coach at Chippewa Hills School District. “I already had the zero-turn mower to mow the trail. Last year I made a crude mount to hang the blower on. This year I did it right.”
