06/01/2026
🌧️ Hurricane season officially starts today, and Florida’s rainy season is already reminding us who’s in charge.
The good news? NOAA is predicting a below-normal Atlantic hurricane season for 2026, with a 55% chance of fewer storms than average. Forecasters currently expect 8-14 named storms, 3-6 hurricanes, and 1-3 major hurricanes this year. (NOAA)
The important part? It only takes one storm.
A “quiet” hurricane season can still bring heavy rain, flooding, downed trees, blocked drainage, property damage, and costly cleanup. NOAA and emergency officials continue to stress that homeowners should prepare the same way they would during a more active season. (Axios)
If you’ve noticed:
✔️ Standing water after rain
✔️ Overgrown brush and underbrush
✔️ Dead limbs hanging over structures
✔️ Blocked drainage paths
✔️ Areas of your property you can’t access
Now is the time to address them before summer storms start stacking up.
